The Terrace House is a small housing complex designed with a focus on cohabitation and building a sense of community. Nestled on a small hill just outside of Chur, Switzerland, the building is shaped to blend into its surroundings, with gently curved walls that respond to the natural topography of the site.
Taking advantage of the southern exposure, the design ensures that the common areas are bathed in light throughout the day. Large windows let sunlight pour into the living spaces, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The terrace, as well as the surrounding walls and floors, is finished with wood.
The project also puts a strong emphasis on shared spaces. A large common room at the end of the building brings residents together for gatherings, while green spaces surround the complex, inviting residents and the local community to interact. The Terrace House fosters a sense of belonging and community.
