The primary south-facing volume, a vibrant communal hub, is where most activity takes place. This area includes the main entrance, a shared kitchen, a living room, a lobby, and outdoor spaces. The site design reflects its dual purpose. To the north, a public park with a pathway links the street to the alley.
Sun exposure defines the hierarchy of spaces, shaping their function and atmosphere. From here, movement extends to the southeast and southwest wings, with each successive layer becoming increasingly private. The apartments themselves follow a clear spatial hierarchy.
Inspired by the shingled facade of the Arzthaus in Davos, the south-facing collective space is clad in solar panels, modernizing the traditional shingle aesthetic while harnessing solar energy. Standard-sized panels dictate window placement and size, creating a cohesive and efficient design language.
