A complex of 7 apartments is being built. The narrow but elongated apartments are each divided into 3 zones: the living spaces, the staircase or ramp and the private rooms like bedroom and bathroom. Once connected to each other the narrow shape enables a generous outdoor space.
The versatile scaffolding elements allow a quick and easy assemblance. The scaffolding parts that have remained at their original position became corridors along which a vertical garden is growing. The decision to keep and reuse parts of the scaffolding encouraged a communal sense of living.
Coming from the street the courtyard pulls you into the scaffolding community. The residents cultivate their plants with the help of scaffolding beams. It is a space of movement, where people can meet and interact with the structure, enhancing a connection to the outdoor space.
