- Situated next to a pathway on the sunlit, south-facing edge of the Waldlabor, connecting dense forest and open field, the Arboretum serves as a threshold between habitats.
- The prevailing westerly wind sweeps across the lively path, forcing the outer fringe of trees to bow, yet its blow is softened within the transitional space, which forms a sheltered microclimate for small wildlife nurtured by an arrangement of deliberately planted and naturally occurring thermophilic and wind-resistant species.
