Launched: Home for Humanity Website

We are delighted to announce the launch of our website Home for Humanity.

Since the summer of 2023, the Chair of Architectural Behaviorology has been working together with the Chair of the Theory of Architecture to develop the shelter project Home for Humanity.

With support from Fashion Girls for Humanity and in collaboration with local organizations such as Peace Winds Japan and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the project team has examined more than 150 cases of emergency shelters since the 1950s. These have been carefully categorized and transformed into easy-to-understand drawings and step-by-step shelter assembly guides.

At present, the website introduces five selected examples of shelters. The guides are designed to be multi-sensory, including accessible drawings and audio features, so that even groups often excluded from construction work can take part. This inclusive approach forms part of a broader educational disaster-preparedness strategy.

The project prioritizes environmentally sustainable construction methods and the use of locally sourced materials, aiming to reduce environmental impact while supporting resilient communities.

We are planning a launch event at ETH Zurich to celebrate and share the Home for Humanity project.

Details of the event will be announced soon.
