Home for Humanity is a collaborative research project developed by the Chair of Architectural Behaviorology and the Chair of the Theory of Architecture at ETH Zurich. The project team has examined more than 150 cases of emergency shelters from the 1950s to the present and systematized them into an open-access digital platform.

The website presents selected examples of shelter designs, translated into drawings and step-by-step assembly guides. These guides are designed to be multi-sensory, combining visual and audio elements, in order to enable participation by a wide range of users, including those who are often excluded from construction processes. This inclusive approach forms part of a broader educational framework for disaster preparedness.

The project is supported by Fashion Girls for Humanity and developed in collaboration with international partners, including Peace Winds Japan and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

It emphasizes environmentally sustainable construction methods and the use of locally available materials, aiming to reduce environmental impact while strengthening community resilience.
