Masans Loft Homes is a generational housing project in the heart of Masans, Chur, that tries to rekindle the common space and communal living. It consists of eight units, three of which can house up to 2 people, while the remaining five units can house up to four people at a time.
The interiors are designed with an open floorplan in mind, making use of movable walls to adjust privacy levels in the sleeping areas, as well as a staggered floor arrangement to create an open, vertical space around the staircases, that connects all the areas of the unit.
The living areas open up towards the east into a communal garden that allows for the cultivation of food crops such as herbs and vegetables in its many planter boxes, which are accompanied by seating areas all over the garden, preserving habitats and biodiversity in the gradually urbanising space of Masans.
