Knospe Masans

  • Masans, Chur
  • The flexible inner wooden structure of the Knospe residential building is framed on three sides by solid stone walls. While the façade structure follows a strict geometric logic, the function of the rooms inside can be flexibly changed thanks to the simple grid structure of four-by-four meters.
  • On the ground floor of the three-storey volume are three one-storey residential units and above that three two-storey residential units. The Knospe House can accommodate up to twenty people of different backgrounds. Each housing unit has direct access to the garden and therefore the opportunity to use and help shape it.
  • The residents of Knospe should not only consume, but also produce and enjoy. The garden features large vegetable and flower beds as well as a fire pit where people can gather in the evenings to round off the day. A pond at the southern end of the neighbourhood promotes biodiversity.
