House of Intertwined Fragments

  • Masans, Chur
  • The House of Intertwined Fragments introduces the concept of a shared garden that extends into and is adapted by the neighbourhood. The compact fragmentation of the multi-generational housing complex into 3 volumes with pitched roofs housing apartments and 2 connecting volumes with flat roofs.
  • The parts of the house with a glass façade show the open character of the interior towards the outside, while the parts made of wood refer to the cosiness and more private character of the apartments. Each of the three houses is structured by a grid that merges into each other.
  • In conclusion, intertwined fragments are not only the three houses, which merge into a larger whole, but still fit into their surroundings. The complex is designed to create a bond between different generations living in the house through the shared garden, common kitchen, laundry room, and benches.
