The Winkelhof House, located in Masans, is designed to provide a welcoming and inclusive multigenerational home for about 20 residents at different stages of life. The housing concept creates a harmonious living environment that balances private space and communal interaction.
The building’s angular shape plays a crucial role in its design, enclosing a portion of the garden to form a private courtyard. This secluded outdoor space is accessible exclusively through the building or via the adjacent neighboring properties, ensuring privacy while promoting a shared sense of ownership.
The building is constructed entirely of massive wood, which is used for both the floors and walls. On the inside the massive wood walls are exposed and create a warm and natural aesthetic. On the outside the building is lined with timber boards, carrying this wooden aesthetic to the outside too.
