Furniture – Water-Place

  • Hönggerberg, Zürich
  • The goal of our intervention was to create a public space in the forest that is activated by and centered around water. We built an accessible structure that encourages people to gather and opens up dialogue between users, while reacting to the environment and emphasizing the best qualities of the site.
  • It is made up of three elements: a main deck, a bench that spans across the river, and seven concrete stones placed in the water. The bench allows people to sit directly over the river and put their feet in the water, and forms with the deck a conversation corner around the river.
  • The Water-Place project invites people to slow down and notice their surroundings, offering space for observation, interaction with nature, and connection with others.
