Furniture – Manual Flow

  • Hönggerberg, Zürich
  • Our water installation is located at a popular gathering spot, a large clearing with a fire pit, where many children come to play. Although the river is nearby, direct access to the water is limited, as one must walk down the slope to reach it. This is precisely where our installation intervenes.
  • At the center of the structure is a manually operated pulley system. Turning the wheel lifts water from the riverbed up to the public level. From the top, the water flows through a sequence of four basins, each with its own spatial and functional character.
  • The structure is built entirely from wooden slats of a single dimension, 20 by 40 millimeters. What begins as a mechanical system becomes a shared space of experience. The installation creates connection—between children and adults, movement and stillness, action and observation, and people to water.
