Designed for 20 people, the housing complex combines the typical urban typology of the courtyard house with the village character of Masans. The building follows the contours of the plot and is set back from both the historic wall and the street to create a buffer zone between itself and its surroundings.
This decision creates an inner courtyard that can be used by the residents and the immediate neighbors. Every apartment has an area of the arcade reserved for itself in front of it, so that the inhabitants can also use it as a balcony. On each floor there is a small communal room only for the residents, such as a gym, a lounge and a library.
The building itself is constructed of prefabricated cross-laminated timber and is insulated with cellulose. These materials can easily be harvested locally. Between the external facade, made of timber panels, and the insulation material is a ventilation layer to avoid condensation. All of these circumstances lead to an ideal place to live for peopl
