Convivium is a residential project located in Chur, designed to host six housing units for a diverse community, including elderly residents, families, and individuals living in a shared residence. The title comes from Latin and means living together, reflecting the goal of creating a balance between individuality and connection.
The central symbolic and functional element of the project is the hearth, inspired by the archetype of the fireplace as a place of gathering and dialogue. Pairs of units are connected by a veranda, a transitional space that fosters spontaneous interaction between neighbors.
In summary, Convivium celebrates the interplay between personal and shared spaces, reinterpreting the archetype of the hearth in a modern way. This project addresses the challenges of contemporary living, redefining the concept of the neighborhood as a place of balance between autonomy, relationships, and belonging.
