- Bourgeois aspirations were folded into a 45 mr shell: a 6 ma kitchen, a 12 ma living room. and two narrow chambers above. All reduced, all efficient.
- The house, conceived by Hans Schmidt and Paul Artaria for the WOBA exhibition 1930 in Basel, was designed for families living at the poverty line. It reflects the life of a mother whose day is stretched between factory and household.
- The layout promised relief through efficiency. Her time, her strength, her care all measured and optimised.
