Case Study – HS25 Mid Review 1 Abinaya Ramesh – 1996

  • Amidst glazed suburban houses buzzing with life stands a bunker embedded in the hillside: withdrawn, introverted, hostile on its green patch. Behind the heavy gate-like door of this mute concrete shell lies a luminous core of timber, steel and glass.
  • Even the ordinary pitched roof deceives, hiding a double geometry. Below, the family’s furniture collection; above life, shaped by sliding partitions into a fluid continuum.
  • Hidden to the outside, yet on display within, through the atrium’s visual connections, the house becomes its microcosm.
