Case Study – Hofmatt bei Rünenberg – 17th century
- Rünenberg
- A 17th century farmhouse, Hofmatt bei Rünenberg reflects a family’s attachment to their home over the last century. It is being renovated into a two-generational house after the father, a farmer there, retired.
- Large living spaces replace the narrow quarters, with the stable being part of the apartments.
- The three sons (a builder, carpenter and gardener) carried out the renovation, blending old and new: original stone walls, wooden beams and a wooden oven coexist with concrete, clay and insulation, preserving the farmhouse’s essence while adapting it to modern life.
