Case Study – Haus zur Mohrhalde – 1898
- Riehen
- Collaborating with Emanuel La Roche, the famous landscape painter Hans Sandreuter designed a home for his art. The simple design of the classicist building forms the base for colorful organic mosaics, carvings, walland ceiling paintings without competing with them.
- Taking up almost half of the first floor, the atelier is the heart of the house, around which all the other rooms are arranged.
- Its 4 meters high ceiling creates a spacious and airy feeling, which is enhanced by the large north facing window, that allows light and nature to enter.
