Bound by Walls, Open by Design

- Situated in Chur, Masans, between the main road and a walled side street, the multigenerational housing complex introduces a balance between private and communal living. The design orients itself along the existing historic wall, leaving ample space for a recreational area and shared communal spaces.
- The stepped design follows the site's unique topography, with each housing unit elevated on a concrete foundation. Approaching from the north, via the side street enclosed by walls, the main entrance exudes a private and intimate character. The historic wall opens to create a passage, leading to the entrance framed by elongated niches.
- Inside, each apartment is tailored to the owners' specific requirements. The overall layout adheres to a tripartite division: an entrance zone, a central living space, and areas for cooking and dining. The units are organized using a maisonette concept, separating living and sleeping areas to foster individuality within a communal framework.
