Case Study – Villa Ruf – François Quetant, 1929

  • Grand-Saconnex, Genève
  • Executed according to plans by Francis Quétant and on the basis of design sketches based on Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, Villa Ruf is a representative living machine of the early 20th century.
  • Solitary, the house stood off the ground on the green meadow after its completion in 1929 like a ship on the sea. The house gives a strong impression of detachment and aversion to its surroundings, for example, by the perimeter fence that separates the property from the self-similar green lawn.
  • The main feature of the house is to propagate the progress as well as the new technology that contributed to its creation and functioning.
