The Romero Cascade Housing Complex

  • Aïre, Geneva
  • The Romero Cascade housing complex provides housing for small families. The disposition of the apartments creates a cascade like appearance. As a result the lower floor of each apartment has its own balcony.
  • The roof relation between balcony, living room and kitchen is influenced by height differences. The kitchen is slightly higher than the other two rooms, enabling the people standing in the kitchen to have an overview of what happens in the surrounding rooms.
  • The room sequence is kept as simple as possible and adheres to the grid of structure bearing concrete columns. Horizontally laid out steel H-Profiles take on loads from the ceiling above. Bricks fill out the empty room between the concrete columns providing an aesthetic aspect.
