Case Study – House Mendel – Lux Guyer, 1931
- Küsnacht, Zürich
- The house was originally built for Toni Mendel, a widow who made her money with selling clothes.
- Bushes and trees protect house Mendel against unwanted eyes but still allow a perfect view of the lake. There is a pathway to the neighbour’s house, where Lux Guyer lived, but with a clear optical separation.
- House Mendel is mainly built out of concrete, with bricks below the windows. In the basement there is a strange room for coal in order to heat the house.
