Case Study – Vinter’s House – 1780

  • This house was situated in Richterswil, Zurich and was inhabited by a family of cattle farmers and winemakers.
  • Due to the high moisture content, the cellar is mostly used for wine or barrel making and storing cheese or milk. On the other hand, the attic is used for curing meat or storing wood due to the dryness. There is even a crane for lifting up little pieces of wood or twigs to the attic.
  • The surrounding timber is used for the framework, the barrel making process and also the furniture.
