Maison Niche

  • Germaniastrasse, 8006 Zürich
  • Maison Niche is a home for orphans. In total, the house has space for 28 children and two childcare providers.
  • Every child has their own sleeping alcove, which can be separated from the more public space by curtains. There is space for a bed and some private items. The public spaces are designed all the more spacious. The rooms are organised into units of four, two of these share a bathroom. A light band in the common space is illuminated.
  • The centrepiece of the house is an elongated staircase that leads from the basement, which is half underground, to the top floor. It connects the large open spaces and loft-like apartments with each other.
