Circling Life

  • Germaniastrasse, 8006 Zürich
  • The nursing home's inhabitants consist of dementia patients, people in wheelchairs and caretakers. They are separated by floor and have their own type of apartment according to their needs (ground floor - dementia Patients, first Floor - people in wheelchairs, second floor - staff members).
  • Each apartment is equipped with the necessary infrastructure needed for the specific type of patient. While the apartments on the ground floor take into account the people's weak sensory perception, the apartments on the first floor are over-dimensioned and take into account the required turning space of wheelchairs.
  • At the heart of the building, there is a grand covered but brightly illuminated garden. It acts as a gathering space for all people and as the centre of circulation of the building. A ramp spirals around it and connects and floors with each other.
