Museum of Mountain Painting

  • Grindelwald, Bern, Switzerland
  • The renovation and transformation of an old building along the main square into a museum for the guild of Swiss mountain painters.
  • The building will provide a place for the painters coming from all of Switzerland to showcase their art permanently to tourists as well as local art lovers. There will be guided tours by the members through the exhibition and events regarding the guild. For tourists, it’s an intimate way to experience the same mountains they may have visited.
  • The building is made up of five rows. The renovation will provide a new structure for an asymmetrical roof which will let enter more natural light into the new exhibition rooms. Goods from the shop and the cafe are exhibited in the facade, making them visible from the outside.
