Case Study – Haus von Moos – 1720
- Malans, Graubünden
- The House of Moos, once just the basement of a building that survived a village fire, has become a symbol of the Ruedi family's power and influence in Malans. Surrounded by vineyards, the Ruedis turned their residence into a hub for trade and production, using the old basement to store wine and other valuable goods.
- The thick, plastered rubble stone walls of the cellar provided ideal conditions for preserving wine and cheese, giving the Ruedi family both economic and social standing. The wine, in particular, became a key source of wealth and influence for the family, allowing them to maintain their dominance in the region.
- The House of Moos remains a powerful symbol of the Ruedis' legacy and the importance of wine production in the area.
