Case Study – Haus Willimann-Lötscher – 1998

  • Sevgein, Graubünden
  • Overlooking the Vorderrhein valley, the Williman-Lötscher house resembles a modern castle. Designed by Valentin Bearth and Andrea Deplazes, its vertical layout staggers rooms across half-levels, maximizing space on a compact footprint.
  • A spiral staircase connects all levels, enhancing openness. The ground floor includes a double-height hall, dining room, and kitchen, with four bedrooms above. A large panorama window in the living room frames stunning valley views.
  • Clad in timber, the house blends into Sevgein's rural setting while its tower-like form stands out, making a bold architectural statement.
