Furniture – Rerooted

  • Hönggerberg, Zürich
  • Rerooted is a public seating installation designed in the spring of 2024 by students of the Chair of Architectural Behaviorology at ETH Zurich. It provides a space for visitors to relax, take a break, and immerse themselves in the tranquility of the forest.
  • The design features organic, varied forms offering multiple seating options, including ledges at different heights for sitting and a spacious area for lying down. These elements are thoughtfully crafted to accommodate diverse resting needs, encouraging people to pause and enjoy their surroundings.
  • Inspired by the structure of nearby trees, Rerooted reflects nature in its filigree support frame resembling roots, stiffening rings echoing tree rings, and a deck design that mimics the intricate branching of the canopy. This connection between form and environment fosters a seamless blend with the forest setting.
