Case Study – Dimora Doppia – 17XX
- Aquila, Ticino
- Dimora Doppia, a 17th-century stone house in Aquila, Ticino, stands on a mountain slope in the Blenio Valley and is constructed from local woods and river stones from the Brenno.
- The house is highly functional, with each room serving a specific purpose: storage and a workshop on the lower floor, a kitchen with a stove that heats the entire ground-floor apartment, and bedrooms on the first floor, which also connects the three apartments via a small balcony.
- Air circulation is essential, with small windows throughout the structure. The storage room has multiple windows on each side to prevent mold on drying tomatoes and keep the air cool for food preservation.
