Mountain Timber Lodging

  • Viganello, Lugano
  • The project was inspired by the diverse approaches that Ticino architects use to adapt buildings to hillside topographies. It also drew from the range of construction methods and materials that reflect traditional local building practices. These concepts were integrated into the design of a housing complex in Lugano.
  • My building responds to the surrounding environment by following the slope and providing a good view of the downhill area. The orientation and dimensions refer to the surrounding buildings. A log construction aims to reinvigorate this traditional technique and underline the intimate relationship between local building methods and culture.
  • Log construction is not only environmentally friendly but also creates a cozy and inviting living space. This technique emphasizes the connection to local tradition and culture while providing modern and sustainable housing solutions.
