Public Drawing – HIL Canopy
- ETH Campus Honggerberg, Zürich
- The plaza in front of the HiL building acts like a place to commute between auditorium[s], stores and bus stations while in contrast also being a place of perseverance, where people eat lunch, smoke, study or simply take a break from work.
- Through our drawing we explain how weather and material are influencing behaviours: during a winter morning, people are more likely to sit on the stairs where the sun hits first. Once in a while people decide to sit at the concrete tables, especially when they want to work on their laptop.
- The floor influences our behavior on the plaza too: one part of the floor is made out of cobblestone on which people mostly just commute. The gravel floor on the square gives a more park-like feeling, but the litter is more likely to stick than on the flat stone floor where people like to sit, gather and socialize.
